Educational Programs
ElderCare Resource Centers curriculum and trainers have been certified by the Department of Elder Affairs for dementia-specific training of Assisted Living and Nursing Home employees. All of our curriculum is reviewed and updated on a quarterly basis to keep current with the latest trends, techniques and advances in Alzheimer's disease, dementia and other memory impairments.

The ElderCare Resource Center offers Alzheimer’s educational seminars for caregivers, families, and professionals. Topics of trainings which have been offered by the ElderCare Resource Center include "The ABC’s of Dementia"; "How To Be A Friend To An Alzheimer’s Caregiver"; "Managing Difficult Behaviors"; and "Ethics and Alzheimer’s". The ElderCare Resource Center also offers an educational program for long term care facility staff. This training includes two four-hour sessions covering the disease process, psychosocial and administrative aspects of Alzheimer’s care in the assisted living or skilled nursing facility, and behavioral and therapeutic approaches to Alzheimer’s care. This training meets the requirements of the State of Florida for assisted living facilities that advertise Alzheimer’s care. The ElderCare Resource Center also has a certified trainer with long-term care experience to teach the 4 hour AD Training requirement for nursing homes in the state of Florida. The ElderCare Resource Center staff is available to meet with caregivers or families to provide assistance with commonly asked questions, planning, and accessing community resources. The Center’s professional staff is available to provide more extensive assistance with individual situations.
