About Our Artists

Suzanne Woodie, Memory Artist

Suzanne Woodie was raised in Southeast Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Moore College of Art in Philadelphia with a degree in Fashion Illustration and Advertising Design. Much of her career was spent working as an Art Director for retail stores and catalog companies. She has extensive experience in all phases of print advertising; including layout design and conception, photo styling, and pre-press production. Suzanne has been living in South Florida since 1994. Although she still continues to work as freelance Graphic Designer and Stylist, Suzanne is now pursuing her passion for photo preservation and the creation of Family Heritage Books.

Why You Should Preserve Your Photos

How often do we sit down with other members of our family and share the stories and memories that our photos evoke? Isn’t this is the reason we create photographs, to remember the times and the people that are important in our lives? I have so many questions I wish I could have asked my grandparents. They left behind so many unidentified photos. I realized that I needed to preserve the precious memories in these old photographs by interviewing my remaining relatives while they were still alive. It’s been difficult but more rewarding than I imagined. I only wish I would have started sooner.

Then I thought about my own photos. Those stored in unsafe albums that allow them to continue to fade and discolor and those that are still in the envelopes they came in. All of the loose photos in unorganized boxes and even all of my new digital photos that now sit on my computer’s hard drive. All of those unorganized photos without names, without dates, without locations, without the stories behind them. How long would it be before I started to forget the details of those moments? What happens when we do forget, or are not here to tell the stories anymore? How will we be remembered, if at all, by future generations? As I look through the first Family Heritage Book I created I realize that this could be one of the most important things I did for my family.

By taking the necessary steps now to preserve what I have and also by making these Family Heritage Books I feel that I am creating a lasting legacy for my family. I can help you do the same for yours as well. From just simply getting organized to creating a personalized Heirloom Heritage Book, contact me for a free consultation and quote on how to preserve your family’s history.
